I hate the seats in my 2008 CRV and was wondering if the RDX seats might not be a plug n play option. I know the platforms were the same but who knows about seat mounting dimensions.
The reviews of the RDX always praised the seats and I found a good pair not far from Austin for only about $350.

Any way to just gut the seats and replace with some good foam? I’m sure any reupholstery shop can do this for less.

The problem is as much about the shape and dimensions of the seat as padding. At least from what I can tell on the CRV boards (yes, they exist). Still, I want to get the driver’s seat in my Alfa recovered, so maybe I can work some sort of deal with the upholstery shop... and my wife.

What’s wrong with the seat design? I’ve only sat in my family’s 2nd gen CRV which has fabric seats and are pretty average but not awful.

The third generation went with a flat, wide, but shallow bottom seat, and the seatback is also quite wide with zero lumbar support. I could fix the lumbar issue with more countouring and bolstering, but the bottom is just what it is. Pretty much all Hondas from 2004-2013 have similar complaints against them. I think then was when HOnda was “americanizing” their product lineup more, and thinking that good o’l lardasses wouldn’t fit into a properly supportive seat. My old Fit was almost identical with regard to ergonomics, even as small as it was.
